In most android is done by dialing * # 87 #, then press handtest and Proximity Calibration, tilt the terminal 45º and it would be solved.
In the android that have installed Cyanogen we should dial ## 97 ##. Check in Light / Prox that when you pass your finger on the sensor does not work or do not do everything well before performing the next step. If it does not go well we go to Proximity Calibration and having the terminal in 45º press Star Calibrate, when you carry out the process and we put Success, we will have our sensor calibrated. If you wish you can check it with the previous step.
